NHS
Westview NHS meets the first Thursday of every month at 7:30am in the gym. There are 9 meetings this year, plus an additional juniors-only meeting in April to elect an Executive Board for the following year.

Any forms or payments throughout the year can be turned in to an Exec member during an NHS meeting or to Mrs. DelaCruz in room P107 during lunch or after school.
Hours Requirements
Throughout this whole year, we expect you to complete 10 inside hours and 10 outside hours. Each term you need to complete 5 inside and 5 outside. The inside hours are volunteer hours obtained through NHS-sanctioned events. These events are organized by the Executive Board, Project Leaders, or Service Groups. Inside Hours opportunities are offered each month to ensure members can achieve their hours requirements by the end of each term. Inside Hours do not transfer over for each term.

Strike Policy
Westview NHS operates on a three-strike policy. Members earn a strike every time they are absent from or late to a meeting. Once a member receives three strikes, they are removed from NHS. Members can also be removed if they fail to complete their hours requirements by the end of the term.

Strikes carry over from Term 1 to Term 2. Strikes do not carry over from 11th grade to 12th grade.
Perks
Juniors have the opportunity to become one of five Project Leaders, which is a leadership position that works directly with the Executive Board to organize and facilitate volunteer events each month. At the end of their junior year of NHS, members can apply to be on the Exec team. Only Project Leaders can apply to be President of Vice President, but any member in the 11th grade can apply to be Secretary or Treasurer.

Seniors, upon completion of NHS requirements, will receive a gold stole to be worn at their graduation with their cap and gown. This is a symbol of their high achievement in scholarship, service, leadership, and character throughout high school. Seniors will be given their stoles at the banquet at the end of the year.
